Renee Eady, owner and lead instructor of A Driving Advantage, started competing in autocross racing events across the U.S. at 18 years of age. It was autocross, also known as Solo II racing, that sparked her interest in teaching others how to drive safely. Eady says, “Driving is 90% mental and 10% physical. When teens are first learning to drive, they have to focus the physical ‘how to skills.’ Over time, they will move away from concentrating on ‘how to’ and towards improved mental awareness and mature thought processes to become safe, competent, and mature drivers.”

According to Eady, the most important parts of a driver education course include teaching teens the responsibilities that come with the privilege of driving, basic car control, defensive driving techniques, driving in different environments and situations, and handling emergency situations, and are integral lessons in an effective driver education program. Driving is a learned skill and new drivers need dedicated time to practice behind the wheel if they are to gain confidence and develop responsible driving skills and attitudes. “We strive to encourage teens to develop safe and mature driving habits that will keep them safe behind the wheel of a vehicle for years to come,” states Eady.

“Driving is the most dangerous thing that any of us do on a daily basis. We all have a responsibility to drive safe for the benefit of not only ourselves but our families and community. The cost of a driver’s education course is the cost of one car payment, and it will be paid for monetarily through the insurance discount and tax credit. The information in the course will last a lifetime.”
